Xprizo Event Recap: JFEX Jordan 2024

Published on: September 11, 2024

This year’s JFEX was the 25th edition of the increasingly important fintech gathering organised by Afaq Media Group, under the title ‘The Future of Financial Markets and Investments in Light of Digital Transformation’. Xprizo’s CVO Richard Mifsud and PR and Communications Manager Anita Kalergis were in attendance and shared some insights from the two-day event in Jordan.

Mazen Al-Wazaifi, CEO of the Amman Stock Exchange, reflected that, the conference is vital in these exceptional circumstances that the Arab world is experiencing, as it discusses the future of financial markets and comes up with recommendations and suggestions that contribute to overcoming crises and challenges that our region and the world are going through.

The event was a hive of activity across both days as many Finance and Investment leaders were in attendance and it was very pleasing to see such a strong contingent of women. AI was a theme running through many discussions, with particular focus on the technology’s role in the future of investments, risk management and analysis, fundamental and technical analysis.

Today in Jordan, Cryptocurrencies do not yet qualify as legal tender, but there was lots of constructive conversation around the subject. Neighbouring countries are looking at this area, so it’s a wait-and-see situation for the time being. Blockchain’s advantages were another hot topic with its potential positive impact in education, healthcare, sustainability, and smart cities, logistics. This is a technology Jordan is really seeing where they could step in as the country has a considerable demographic of tech professionals.

H.E. Dr. Mohammad Halaiqa was keynote speaker at the event to share ideas around how the Government can better support companies by opening dialogue with the private sector. One takeaway was that more emphasis should be forming collaborations with incentives. It was also put forward that the Securities commission should decide on joint investment funds that are outside of geopolitical factors.

Halaiqa also stressed the need for Jordan to focus on local issues like the supply of electricity and create a more stable tax system, as the country cannot control geopolitical issues. Egypt was cited as a good example to follow for the future.

Xprizo’s Richard and Anita had a chance to share their expertise too. Anita moderated a panel titled ‘Technical Analysis and Market Trends’ where she put questions to Tyler Wood CCO/Executive Director – DMT.

The pair shared the stage for Session 4 on Day 2 (Safe investments in Cryptocurrencies) then for Session 5 (Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies). Anita  also moderated  session 2  “Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies”, then Session 3 Risk Management and AI, session 5 “Charting the Course”

With her moderating hat still on, Anita oversaw Day 1’s Session 4 (Currency Market Dynamics) and Session 6 (Risk vs. Speculation).
