Asia Tour Diary Takeaways – Sintija and Xavier

Published on: August 10, 2024

Now the dust has settled a little more since the express Xprizo trip around Asia, we sat down with Head of Business Development, Sintija Rimsa, and Chief Growth Officer, Xavier Murtza, to find out what they’re excited about the region.

Our time in the Philippines was spent meeting various companies across the iGaming and payment solution industries  to initiate, and in many cases continue positive conversations. These also covered meeting merchants and each was to help them expand into Asia or enhance operations in Asia.

It was very good to meet with a major remittance service provider that we have been in discussion with for almost 12 months. We already have a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) ready to go live in the Philippines using its PSP licence. Updates will be revealed once the ink has dried on the contract. This collaboration will give us access to 20,000 agents, local payment method GCash (and several other smaller ones) and direct bank API integrations.

Another element to our time in the Philippines was speaking with a corporation about potential collaborations involving land/property payments and ATM integration for Xprizo’s wallet solution.

It’s always been enjoyable to spend time in Bangkok, and it was great being back. Our stop in the Thai capital saw us speak with a number of companies to explore the option of leveraging their licences and integrating Xprizo’s wallet solution. Crypto continues to inspire innovation and we loved sitting down with a gold-backed cryptocurrency pegged to gold reserves. The strategy here was to look at leveraging their banking licence and integrate Xprizo’s wallet through a Letter of Intent (LOI). This entity has a mission to be a trusted gold-backed coin and digital banking service.

Being in Laos is special, particularly as the country remains on the front foot developing its digital financial services ecosystem. The country is doing this in collaboration with a leading local bank establishing a regulatory framework and the UNCDF supporting initiatives like mobile wallets and financial literacy programs. Our focus was on establishing partnerships to enable cross-border transactions, local payments, and regulatory assistance using Xprizo’s solution.

Being able to travel to countries where Xprizo is actively making a difference is one of the best parts of this job.

We returned to the Emirates to get stuck into several important meetings with some of our key partners. As Xprizo grows, so does the team, and it was great to spend some time in the UAE with our new Head of Operations. It was good to reconnect with our local partner Forsee payments and continue discussions to plan the best way to maximise our partnership.

Next stop for us was meeting with the owners of a local fintech company called Encryptus which specialises on crypto to fiat exchange with integrations directly to banks in several countries.  A tech entrepreneur and senior ex-visa executive are the brains behind the business, and it was great to sit down with founders to hear about their growth plans. On the back of this chat, we quickly agreed to sign an agreement to integrate their system which would facilitate our bank to crypto and vice-versa OTC.

Another meeting that filled us with positivity was connecting with a company looking to integrate our wallet solution on their website for onramp and offramp operations, but also work deeper with us offering access to their exchange to be able to offer crypto wallets directly to our users internationally.

Productive chats with a company saw us agreeing to sign them up as agents in the UAE to handle cash transactions for Xprizo. That takes our partner companies, with agents on the ground, in the UAE to an impressive three.

The final port of call was a courtesy visit to the Ambassador Maria Camilleri Calleja. She was thrilled to see us again and was fully prepared with detailed questions about the Xprizo offering and a list of merchants she wanted to put us in touch with. It was uplifting to hear she was keen to introduce us to a host of local brands operating in the region.
