Xprizo – International Women’s Day 2024

Published on: March 8, 2024

International Women’s Day is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day has become one to celebrate women and to continue to push for gender equality. Xprizo is proud to have a powerful team of women driving the success of the business and today we wanted to shine a light on their journey in the fintech world. With that in mind, we posed two important questions and you will find their responses below.

Sintija Rimsa, Xprizo Head of Business Development

What are you most grateful for in your journey?

I am profoundly grateful for the immeasurable support & collaboration that isn’t defined by gender. While the empowerment from fellow women in business has been inspiring, men have also played their part in accelerating this dynamic. As the core of our successes is both gender solidarity & a unified effort of sharp minds brought together by common goals. Personally, I am thankful for the many opportunities that are available within the fintech space as it allows us to relentlessly innovate and push boundaries.

On top of this, it’s been amazing to witness the change of former colleagues becoming lifelong friends.  As a community, we push each other to be better versions of ourselves, learn, and take on new projects, highlighting that the true essence of success revolves around collaboration and a shared vision.

What’s your advice for women aspiring to work in tech?

To those exploring a move into the tech landscape, my advice would cover two factors: seek mentorship and maintain your unique voice. Making positive inroads into the dynamic tech sector is made easier by guidance from those who have already navigated their way.Mentorship from seasoned experts can propel you miles ahead, offering insights that only experience can teach. Equally important is retaining your individuality and perspective. Your voice, when thoughtfully and professionally expressed, can shed new light on old problems, drive innovation, and inspire change. Balancing the wisdom of mentorship with the authenticity of your own insights creates a powerful synergy. This blend of learning from others while staying true to yourself is a formidable strategy for anyone aspiring to make their mark in the technology sector.

What are you most grateful for in your journey?

On reflection, I am incredibly grateful for the chance to build meaningful relationships with customers and clients. These connections go beyond mere transactions; they are hugely rewarding and fulfilling experiences. Moments like these emphasise the importance of human interaction in the business world. In my role, I am so happy to be able to positively impact businesses and, by going one further, people’s lives. The appreciation and trust that is nurtured from these connections is the catalyst for business and personal growth.

What’s your advice for women aspiring to work in tech?

Having a mentor who can offer guidance, support, and advice as you navigate your tech career has been a major boost for me. Another avenue to explore is tech groups and networks where women can share learnings and provide support in an inspiring environment.

Anita Kalergis, PR and Communications Manager

What are you most grateful for in your journey?

I have been working for more than 40 years and have been able to see the world, working with various great professionals in very diverse organisations. For the last eight years, I have worked mostly with Fintech, emerging technology, companies or projects, and in many, such as Xprizo, we are solving real problems, and bringing solutions to many people’s everyday lives. I can’t think of more inspiring or meaningful work than being involved, and part of creating a fairer, brighter and more inclusive future, both technological and financial, for all of us, but especially for future generations.

What’s your advice for women aspiring to work in tech?

In my opinion, the technology field, like all other fields, belongs to everyone, and does not look at gender, but I am also aware of the thinking that is mysteriously stubbornly still connected to the technology field as a male industry.

Even so, I would say that if the technology industry and its innovations feel like your own, feel free to join, to network with industry players and to study the industry. Then, if necessary, seek mentoring or good tips or help from people who are already working in these positions.

As with any new thing, I would say that the most important thing in the end is to have an open mind, the desire and readiness to learn, to be hungry and receptive to information/advice. In addition, be decisive about what you want, what you strive for and stay loyal to what you believe in.

We women play a remarkable role as employees but also as mothers, grandmothers, wives, sisters and co-workers in the technological future for humankind. I find that a very empowering thought, I hope you do too.

Doris Muthoni, Customer Success Lead

What are you most grateful for in your journey?

Technology has been a huge game-changer as it has helped transform the world into a small village. This more intimate community allows all of its inhabitants to reach out to anyone, at any time for support, advice or collaboration – despite where they are in the world. Technology has also allowed us to be more aware of our environment and our duty to preserve our way of living. Instant information at our fingertips means we can make educated decisions for the good of all.

What’s your advice for women aspiring to work in tech?

For me it is about having the belief to share skills learned with others and to show where they are best suited to working within the tech industry. Another piece of advice is that all our opinions matter and as a gender we should never be afraid to communicate these.
