Africa Tech Summit Nairobi, Kenya 2024 – Key takeaways

Published on: February 16, 2024

In what was billed as a diverse, cultural gathering of Africa’s brightest and established Fintech organisations, the Africa Tech Summit didn’t fail to deliver. The event was an amazing gathering of people and companies to network, share experiences and share knowledge – and of course showcase the tech that is shaping modern Africa.

Delegates and representation

Over the two days in Nairobi, the summit successfully brought together more than 1000 leaders, investors and startups from across Africa and globally, with representatives and participants from 59 countries (from Asia to Europe).

Highlights

The Africa Tech Summit centred on four main verticals: Africa Money & DeFi Summit, Africa Climate Tech & Investment Summit, Africa Startup Summit, Africa Mobile & App Summit. The leading issues addressed were fintech, climate technology, startup ecosystem and mobile application, which shone a light on the complex nature of Africa’s technological innovation.

An important part of the conference was the Investment Expo which gave African technology companies the platform to talk more about innovative ideas to a panel of global investors and technology leaders. What really struck a chord with Xprizo was how prominent a role the Africa Mobile & App summit played in bringing together experienced players in the market. Through this we were able to identify and begin discussing potential partnerships in Africa.

From Xprizo’s perspective

From Xprizo’s side, the Africa Tech Summit in Nairobi was a watershed event and a significant opportunity for the company. As a first-time attendee, Xprizo was able to see firsthand the amalgamation of various industries into the fintech space, including agriculture, payment providers, and smart waste disposal. Being in Nairobi allowed Xprizo to communicate directly with both consumers and businesses, highlighting the adaptability and user-friendliness of the platform for peer-to-peer (P2P), business-to-consumer (B2C), and consumer-to-consumer (C2C) transactions.

The response from the summit was incredibly positive, with visitors showing a willingness to work with Xprizo. This positive interaction emphasises the demand to strike collaborations and establish opportunities within Africa’s fintech sector.

The Xprizo team, in particular those visiting for the first time, gained invaluable experience in appreciating the dynamics of such large-scale events and the hard work involved when both company leaders are present.

Overall, the Africa Tech Summit proved an excellent experience for Xprizo across the board. It allowed us to showcase the platform in an environment where it was patently clear of the benefits it will bring to its network of users. It also provided a learning curve for the team in managing and getting the most from their participation in such influential industry events.
